Ontario's Small Claims Court hears claims up to $35,000, not counting interest and costs.
Ontario's Small Claims Court hears claims up to $35,000, not counting interest and costs. The shape of it: a plaintiff's claim, a defence, a mandatory settlement conference before a deputy judge, and then trial if it hasn't resolved.
If your claim is worth more than the limit, you can abandon the excess to stay in Small Claims. That sounds like giving money away, and sometimes it is — but the cost and time difference against the Superior Court is large enough that it's often the better commercial decision.
One thing worth understanding early: judgment is the start of collection, not the end of the matter. Getting the order and actually getting paid are two separate exercises.

An N4 is the notice a landlord serves when rent is late. It is not an eviction, and it is not an order — it is the first step, and on its own it forces nobody out of anything.
An N12 is used when the landlord, a purchaser, or a close family member of either genuinely intends to move into the unit.
